Our company was born as such in 1965, although its founder Don José Pino already worked as a freelancer in the sector before then.
Hand in hand with an entrepreneurial man who was excited about his profession, what seemed like a dream was turned into a reality.
The History of Our Curious Name
It may be striking that a crane company has such an unusual name. This name has its origin in the following anecdote. Don José Pino, founder of the company, was always a young man with a lot of initiative. After years as a freelancer, he decided to embark on his journey alone, starting his activity in Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona, by renting a small office. The few vehicles he had at that time were usually parked in an open field next to a football club.
The said Football Club was called “El Rayo Amarillo” (The Yellow Lightning), so the name became popular as it was the people themselves who spoke about the “El Rayo Amarillo” trucks; therefore, the name was born spontaneously and that is how the young company was named.
Don José Pino decided to paint all the trucks and cranes he later acquired in yellow, our current corporate image.
Following his enthusiasm, his children have continued the family tradition, providing service for more than four decades, improving and growing with “THE FORCE OF LIGHTNING!!!!”
El Rayo Amarillo buys the first hydraulic telescopic mobile crane, Luna brand, on a Pegaso Comet truck, model GT 10/14, with a 10 Tm capacity and a 14 m boom.
2 Bantam brand all-terrain cranes are acquired, model 5626, with 15 Tm. capacity, manufactured in Iowa (USA).
Rayo Amarillo acquires the first Fassi crane with a 9 m. boom, on a Pegaso Comet truck.
Purchase of a Coles 23/25 brand crane with 25 Tm. capacity.
El Rayo acquires two Luna brand cranes, model GT 25/28, on Pegaso trucks.
Purchase of a Luna GT 60/40 crane with a 60 Tm capacity and a 40 m. boom.
